I love being an educator. A self-proclaimed “education nerd,” I’m fascinated by how we learn (learning theory), why we learn (motivation), and practices that facilitate learning (pedagogy)! I’m fired up about innovative practices that use technology as a tool to foster creativity, critical thinking, and global communication. I’m also a bit obsessed with how the proliferation of technology changes what kids need to know to be successful now and in the future… the “new literacies” of the digital age.
Committed to advancing educational technology policy and practices, my end game is about ensuring that every student is equipped with the skills they need to thrive in the digital landscape of today and tomorrow. I’ve helped implement real change in K-12 and in teacher preparation, and I’ve conducted research on the outcomes of those practices. I’ve been honored with some cool awards for my work (which you can see on my resume, if you’re interested), but the REAL reward is working with amazing educators to transform practice with technology... that in turn improves student outcomes. I care deeply about empowering both teachers and students to be curious and self-driven learners.
