INFORMAL CLASS: Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 5-6 (12:15-3:15)

  • Select one more instructional tools to learn, create examples, and write about how you would use it in the classroom.
    • Check out each of these and choose at least ONE tool to learn in more depth:
      • Piktochart (How-to Videos here)
      • Plickers (Google "Plickers Tutorial")
      • Edmodo (Google "Edmodo Tutorial")
      • FlipGrid (Google "Flipgrid Tutorial")
      • Storybird (Google "Storybird Tutorial" or visit this link)
      • Newsela (Google "Newsela Tutorial")
  • Finish your portfolio including 3 or more of the tools you learned about in this class.  
    • Make sure your sharing permissions are set to “Anyone with the link can view”
    • Then, share your portfolio on this Google Doc
  • Spend time reviewing your classmates’ portfolios and provide meaningful feedback using the "comments" feature in Google Slides

INFORMAL CLASS: Thursday, Aug. 30 (12:15-3:15)

● Students independently setup a class in Teacher Kit OR Class DoJo
  • Experiment with all the options and functionality in Teacher Kit or Class Dojo.  Figure out how it works!  Learn all of the various features.
  • Use a Google doc to write  1-2 paragraphs about how you would use Teacher Kit or Class Dojo in the classroom.  Save it in your “ASU Technology Class” folder
●​​ Students create at least 2 Kahoots related to the subject area you teach.  One should be from the "Discovery" link (someone else's Kahoot that matches what you teach, then you duplicate it and edit some of the questions).  One should be made entirely by you.
  • Practice with your friends! Have them take your Kahoot quizzes, and you take theirs. Give each other feedback on the questions you’ve asked and revise!
  • Use a Google doc to write  1-2 paragraphs about how you would use Kahoot in the classroom.  Save it in your “ASU Technology Class” folder
● Piktochart? Watch the Piktochart videos and create a Piktochart on your own.

INFORMAL CLASS: Tuesday, Aug. 28 (12:30-3:30)

  • Students independently develop 1 Padlet
    • Choose a topic “All about ……”   Imagine this as something you would use in your classroom OR something that you would have students create as a project to show what they have learned.  Create a finished product of the Padlet, including text, images, video, websites, and documents.
    • Post Padlet Links on the Class Padlet
  • ​​Create a folder in your Google drive called "ASU Technology Class"  Then create a document inside that folder called "Padlet in the Classroom."  On the Google doc, write 2-3 paragraphs describing how you would use Padlet in your classroom. 
  • Set up accounts for 2 tools: Teacher Kit, Kahoot
  • Download Teacher Kit and Kahoot apps on mobile device (cell phone)
  • If you finish early:
    • Create a second Padlet
    • Watch the two videos for Piktochart
    • Create a Piktochart (flyer, infographic, or poster) that you can use in your classroom
